This is a new kind of team merch. Ana Suarez July 24, 2020 Updated: July 24, 2020 8:21 a.m. Baseball has finally started in 2020, a few months later than normal due to COVID-19 setbacks. You won't find yourself in a baseball stadium anytime soon, but you can still find ways to represent your favorite team: Rather than buying a new t-shirt or jersey with your team's logo, you might want to opt for a face covering or gaiter to rep your team. FOCO, a fan-centric sports merchandise brand, just launched a new line of Gameday Gaiter Scarves and Face Covers. If you're hitting your local outdoor restaurant to watch MLB games (while socially distancing) you're going to want to have one of these handy. Many of these masks will be worn by a majority of Major League Baseball players throughout the season. 'Where They Belong': MLB Reclassifies Negro Leagues as a Major League, Updating Its Record Books - The Daily Beast

Image
The seven segregated "Negro Leagues" that played baseball from 1920 to 1948 are now considered part of Major League Baseball, and their records will be added to the MLB's record book, the league announced Wednesday. "All of us who love baseball have long known that the Negro Leagues produced many of our game's best players, innovations and triumphs against a backdrop of injustice," MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement. "We are now grateful to count the players of the Negro Leagues where they belong: as Major Leaguers within the official historical record." Major League Baseball did not integrate until April 1947, when Jackie Robinson debuted at first base for the Brooklyn Dodgers. The Baseball Hall of Famer had first played professional baseball two years earlier, as a member of the Negro Leagues' Kansas City Monarchs. Read it at Sports Illustrated

Remember When: Service Merchandise - Williamson Source

Image
For 68 years, Service Merchandise called Tennessee home, moving their national headquarters to Brentwood in the early 1980s. They were one of the first corporations to settle into the Cool Springs area. During the 1970s and 1980s they were the number one retail catalogue showroom store in the country, topping sales at four million dollars in 1994. Beginning in 1934 in Pulaski, Tennessee as a five-and-dime store, Service Merchandise grew to over 400 showroom stores before going into bankruptcy in 2002. They offered fine jewelry, sporting goods, electronics, housewares, toys, and even some clothing. Their ordering process through a "Silent Sam" on-line cash register system in their stores allowed them to keep shrinkage down and pass the savings on to the consumer. It was a unique system that was also fun. You put in your order in at one place, and it came out on a conveyer belt at the other end. Founded by Harry and Mary Zimmerman, they both passed away in 1986, and tha

The different types of insulin and how to use them for diabetes treatment - Insider - INSIDER

Image
The major types of insulin include short-acting, rapid-acting, intermediate-acting, long-acting, ultra-long-acting, and inhaled.  About 24% of people with diabetes use insulin, and they usually need a combination of short-acting and long-acting to regulate blood sugar levels.  This article was reviewed by Jason R. McKnight, MD, MS, a family-medicine physician and clinical assistant professor at Texas A&M College of Medicine.  This story is part of Insider's guide to Diabetes.  Insulin is a naturally-occurring hormone that helps the body regulate blood sugar, or blood glucose.  Healthy individuals produce all the insulin they need. But people with type 1 diabetes do not produce any insulin, so they need to take insulin injections.  People with type 2 diabetes produce some insulin, but their body is not always able to use it effectively. Because of that, some people with type 2 diabetes also need to take insulin injections. Here's what you need to know a

Insulin Costs and Coverage in Medicare Part D - Kaiser Family Foundation

Image
In May 2020, the Trump Administration announced the number of Medicare Part D plans that will be participating in 2021 in a Medicare Innovation Center model to address out-of-pocket costs for insulin products for Part D enrollees. Under the voluntary model, participating Part D plans can offer coverage of insulin for a flat monthly copayment of no more than $35, in contrast to varying cost-sharing amounts during different phases of the Part D benefit under the current design. The model comes in response to rising prices for insulin, which have attracted increasing scrutiny from policymakers, leading to congressional investigations and overall concerns about affordability and access for people with diabetes who need insulin to control blood glucose levels. Among people with Medicare (including people 65 and older and younger adults with long-term disabilities), one third (33%) had diabetes in 2017, up from 18% in 2000. The rate of diabetes in the overall population has been trending u
