Walgreens Is Offering Discounts On Summer Essentials
The theme of the summer is sales!
Walgreens is the latest retailer to announce discounts this summer, with special savings on seasonal essentials all summer long.
"We know our customers are looking for ways to make their time and money go further this summer," Tracey D. Brown, EVP, President, Walgreens Retail & Chief Customer Officer, said in a news release.
"From compelling deals on summer must-haves, to everyday value across our assortment, and convenient ways to shop, we're making it easier for families to get what they want and need. Whether choosing our trusted national brands or our high-quality owned brand offerings, Walgreens customers can count on great value without compromising on quality or convenience."
The discounts kicked off on June 1, and Walgreens plans to have items in nearly every category at marked down prices for the majority of the summer.
Here's a look at what the retailer has planned:
Buy one, get one 50% off select sun care products, of equal or lesser price (June 1-August 24)
Buy one, get one 50% off select sunglasses, of equal or lesser price (June 1-28)

If you are 55 or older or are an AARP member, shopping just got a little less expensive at Walgreens.
The drugstore is expanding its Seniors Day discount to every Tuesday.
It's not the usual blah, blah, blah. Click here to sign up for our free newsletter.
That means if you are at least 55, or are an AARP member, you can save the following on Tuesdays:
30% off eligible regular-price items from Walgreens brands in stores, or online with code SENIOR30
20% off all other eligible regular-price items in stores, or online with code SENIOR20
Previously, the discount was available one day per month. The change, announced Friday, is part of an effort to offer customers more convenience while practicing social distancing, Walgreens said in a company announcement.
To take advantage of the senior discount online, you must be logged into your Walgreens.Com account. In stores, you need a Balance Rewards card.
In addition, some products do not qualify for these discounts. You can find out more by visiting Walgreens' Seniors Day webpage and scrolling down to the fine print.

The move by Walgreens follows an announcement last month that the drugstore would begin offering free home delivery of eligible prescription medications due to the coronavirus pandemic. CVS has made a similar pledge.
In addition, Walgreens is among a handful of retailers offering free delivery for all online purchases during the pandemic — meaning there is no minimum purchase requirement to qualify for free shipping right now.
Shopping at Walgreens on Tuesdays can net you big savings. By why stop at 20% or 30% off when you can increase those discounts?
For example, if you shop through a cash-back portal like Rakuten, you can boost your savings. As of Monday, shoppers using Rakuten could earn up to 3% cash back on their purchases at Walgreens.
Getting a better deal on car insurance doesn't have to be hard. You can have The Zebra, an insurance comparison site compare quotes in just a few minutes and find you the best rates. Consumers save an average of $368 per year, according to the site, so if you're ready to secure your new rate, get started now.

'You Can CashApp Me $2 And Save A Lot Of Money': Walgreens Cashier Says It's Really Easy To Apply Employee Discount At Checkout. You Just Have To Ask
'Bae, they will fire you.'Posted on March 22 2025 5:00 am CDT
Most retail and fast food places have employee discounts. Some offer a certain percentage of items off or off the total.

But if you ever want to save money at Walgreens, all you have to do is ask TikTok user Jessica (@hotgirlname) for her employee discount.
How Walgreens employee discounts work"I work at Walgreens to use our employee discount, you literally just need an employee's phone number and zip code at the pin pad when you check out," she says.
However, her employee discount comes with a price. "So, technically, you can CashApp me $2 and save a lot of money over time," the content creator concludes, winking.
Of course, Jessica claims in the caption, "JOKING, unless AHAHA (joking for corporate reasons)."
Viewers take Jessica on her offer"Wait for real??? Causeeee," one viewer wrote.
"PLEASE. I'LL DO IT," a second commented.
However, others warned her about the possible consequences.
"Bae, they will fire you if too many people use it. But love the hustle," one user cautioned.
"Be careful someone at my store got fired for this," another warned.
What discounts does the retailer offer?
In the comments section, Jessica revealed that workers get, "15% non Walgreens items on reg 20% Walgreens brand items."
Is this grounds for termination?Depending on the company, this can lead to termination, including Walgreens. According to a Reddit post to r/WalgreensStores, many shared how the company catches those who abuse the employee discount.
"Hitting the employee discount button too much will eventually get flagged and LP will be contacting the SM about it," one redditor stated.
"Eventually they will catch you and promote you to customer," a second user revealed.
Another had a former co-worker have to pay it all back. The user wrote, "Had a coworker give his friends the discount and SM made him pay it all back before firing him; was like $172 in total."
In fact, this can fall under "discount fraud" which is "when an employee or customer applies a discount inappropriately or in a way that falls outside of policy," per Agilence. This can lead to more serious ramifications. Those who are giving out their employee discounts should reconsider.
