Party City Slashes Prices On 2,000 Items Ahead Of Halloween
Ahead of Halloween, Party City has lowered prices on more than 2,000 popular party supplies, like balloons, disposable tableware, candy and favors.
In recent months, the Woodcliff Lake-based specialty retailer reduced everyday prices on more than 1,500 products. Then last week, it added over 500 more to the savings list, according to a Sept. 24 press release.
The latest round of price cuts amount to an average savings of approximately 20% across impacted items. It comes as Party City gears up for one of its busiest times of the year, Halloween.
Retail analysts predict that consumers plan to shell out even more to celebrate the holiday this year – despite concerns of a recession. Last year, spending on candy, costumes and decorations exceeded $12.2 billion, making it the largest Halloween shopping season on record, according to the National Retail Federation.
A survey from Advantage Solutions found that more than half of shoppers plan to spend $51 or more on candy. Meanwhile, 59% will spend that amount on food for Halloween this year, per the survey Both of those figures are up from just 21% and 29% last year, respectively. Consumers plan similar spending increases for costumes and decorations this year, as well.
By lowering prices on thousands of items, Party City hopes to make its products more budget friendly for consumers planning upcoming celebrations.

"We believe our latest price cuts will make celebrating more affordable with new savings available on many of the most frequently purchased items in our stores and online," said Litwin.
The industry veteran with turnaround experience took the helm of the retailer in August.
Some savings examples now available at Party City include:Founded 38 years ago in East Hanover, Party City is the largest retailer of party goods in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
When the company filed for bankruptcy protection in January 2023, it had about 820 stores, owning 770 of them. As part of its restructuring agreement, Party City wiped away nearly $1 billion in debt, renegotiated leasing terms and closed underperforming locations.
The retailer exited Chapter 11 in September 2023 with a fleet of more than 750 stores.
