Tropical Smoothie Cafe Makes Way To Bar W Marketplace In Leander This Fall

Tropical Smoothie Cafe is planning to open a location in Bar W Marketplace in October.

Operating multiple states, Tropical Smoothie Cafe specializes in smoothies and offers various food options such as flatbreads, wraps, sandwiches, quesadillas and salads.

Franchisees Mike and Kara Sheppard recently opened a Tropical Smoothie in Northwest Austin, and they are the owners of the new Leander location at 19388 Ronald Reagan Blvd., Ste. 620. Construction on the new location is anticipated to begin in July.

Mike Sheppard said it is "very exciting to bring Tropical Smoothie Cafe to the community."

100th DYNE-operated Tropical Smoothie Cafe Location Opened Today On Broadway

A giant inflatable smoothie attached to the roof of the brand new Tropical Smoothie Cafe location at W. Fourth Street and Broadway beckoned me to stop by for a smoothie despite already being an hour late for work this morning. Today is the grand opening of the new store, the 100th franchise operated by Little Rock-based DYNE Hospitality Group. DYNE, co-founded by Nick Crouch and Glen Johnson, currently operates 23 cafes across Arkansas, and has grown to 100 locations across six states in just 11 years, according to a press release from Tropical Smoothie.

The vibe in the store was celebratory. Several DYNE employees were hanging out, and customers were taking selfies in front of a giant display of fruit balloons.

I sent my coworkers a Slack message to see if anyone needed anything.

"A free smoothie," reporter Mary Hennigan replied.

"Those balloons," editor Austin Bailey quipped.

I asked if any free stuff was available, and they'd already blown through all the giveaways. The first 100 customers received free smoothies for a year, and I was told the line started to form at 3 a.M.

There was a Tropical Smoothie store a few blocks south in the former downtown Y.M.C.A. That had a really nice outdoor courtyard space out back. That store closed during the pandemic. The new Broadway store has an entrance from Broadway or Fourth Street, a drive-thru and indoor seating. Its hours are 7 a.M.-9 p.M. Mon.-Thu.; 7 a.M.-10 p.M. Fri.; 8 a.M.-10 p.M. Sat.; 9 a.M.-9 p.M. Sun.
